i34 is no more - results, pictures, live stream excuse
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-08-12 13:36:34 UTC
Unfortunately all good things have to come to an end and this particular iSeries was just one of those things.

First off I just want to say how happy I am that all the members of Axiom (minus L. Skill, although he does live in Ireland :P) made it to the event and that we came out with a fairly good result regardless of all the difficulties the other teams were giving us.

Tournament Results
So for our first attempt at a LAN and with small knowledge on most of the maps we were competing on; I personally, thought we did pretty good for a small fry/newcomer to the LAN scene.

Day 1

Axiom Gaming Vs. HTTP
Map: de_cpl_fire
We had no clue how this match was going to turn out mainly because how little most of the teams that had entered the event knew about this map, and how little we knew about the team we were going up against.

Result: 15 - 15 (Draw)

With a draw to kick-start the event, we took this fairly positively.

Axiom Gaming Vs. Recoil
Map: de_tuscan
With this map, we actually were looking forward to it purely because of the practice that we were able to put into it before the event. Our positions were strong, our rotations were sly and it seemed like were totally in control CT side. T side we did let slip a bit but not enough that they could take the victory.

Result: 16 - 9

Axiom Gaming Vs. Mitu
Map: de_nuke
I think this was one map we had a good idea of how to execute, however there was a problem; there was no team to play against. Before the match was actually able to get underway the opposition seemed to have a problem with the way we played off the knife round. Through-out the competition we'd been using smokes and flashes within our knife rounds purely because there was no rule going against it. It just so happened however that FiRe the CSS admin had put in a rule half way through the tournament that stated we were unable to do this. Even with us accepting the rule change and willing to re-do the knife round for Mitu, they still had an issue. Because of our misunderstanding and lack of knowledge about the rule change, their 5th became so angry that he tried to claim a default against us because of the delay that our previous match took meaning we couldn't get on the war server in time. On top of that, he became so angry with the knife round rulings that he ejected himself from the tournament. Which lead them having to forfeit their games because they were a man short.

Result: 1 - 0 (Default)

Axiom Gaming Vs. Zen
Map: de_train
A map we barely knew, and it really showed. However, regardless of our knowledge over the map; Zen really seemed to able to show their colours. They seemed to be able to take 1st place within our group. Without further a due though, the result was:

Result: 14 - 16

Day 2

Axiom Gaming Vs. Invicta
Map: de_contra
Although our CT side on this map was probably okay-ish, the T-side didn't really do us much justice. Again, Invicta appeared to be one of our group leaders and although we gave them our best shot with what we knew, there was little we could do. They certainly wiped the floor.

Result: 8 - 22

Axiom Gaming Vs. SD-Gaming
Map: de_dust2
After our bad start to the day, we thought we might just be able to bring things around seeing as de_dust2 seemed to be our home map. This wasn't the case as SD-Gaming put a great game with good delays, decent smoke outs & fast/controlled rushes.

Result: 9 - 21

Axiom Gaming Vs. The Dirty Monkeys
Map: de_inferno
We had some ideas for this map so we didn't think we'd do too bad. Also after reviewing the current standing results it seemed that TDM weren't in much of a very good position. This appeared to us as perhaps a fairly easy win. Jamie & Chaz (briz. & T.A. Sponge) had brilliant team control over A bombsite making sure there was not a single terrorist getting into A bombsite from banana. And Spongey's 5 man clutch was something out of this world.

Result: 18 - 12

Live stream problems (apologies)
I know there was a few people who wanted to watch the live stream that we had set up right before the event however due to the way that the connection was setup by MPUK, they had prevented us from making an FTP connection (which was how we were going to do a stream). We just want to apologise in advance for this and perhaps we should have actually done it through USTREAM.

Event pictures
I personally took about 95 pictures of the event, all of which will be uploaded to the site when I get round to doing so. I suspect that Spadge (our TF2 leader) has some shots of his own so I will get round to asking him to get his shots online iswell when im free.

Massive shout outs to all the guys I met including: Sombrero, Nova, x25killa, puzzledpixie, EVERYONE IN THE CONGA LINE, the Killer Instinct lads and Colt Killaz.

CU @ NEXT LAN!

Shirts arrvial and sponsors!
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-08-01 08:58:45 UTC
Two brilliant pieces of news smacked together in one article; brilliant!
There's good news, and even better news... Oh screw it, i'll post both.

The good news is that the t-shirts came today from the people who were getting them done for us (Thank you so much www.akak.co.uk!) and by a great suprise they got them done within incredible speed so that's really really good. If you want high quality printed shirts, GO TO THEM! Sure, I was amazed by the fact that we had our team logo and names on a shirt but I was also amazed as to how well it was done. Next time, if I need shirts, I wouldn't think twice about getting it from the same place. Well done guys.

The second piece of news is even better and it really is something to smile about. Although it is small, we're pleased to say that we've gained a sponsorship deal with IanKenny Galleries, which is a scottish based printing studio dealing with prints of most major fine artwork. Sure, the company has nothing to do with gaming neither are they aiming at the right audience, but because of the close friendship between me and the owner of the company we were able to acheive these benefits:
  • Future LAN shirts will be paid for
  • (Possibility) Server costs may be discounted
  • A sponsorship deal? (rofl)
So yeah, that's really good news and something to feel motivated about. As I said, it's small but its certainly a start. We also wont let it go to our heads but I like to think of it as an acheivement, especially now we're all going to be competing at LANs in the near future.

As for online leagues and tournaments, we should be returning to playing those in the near future. We simply have to get ourselves sorted properly before being convinced that we're ready.

Thanks for reading.

i34 Live Cam Feed!
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-07-30 23:20:24 UTC
In a bizzarre turn of events as of recently (what with the purchase of team shirts and Jamie now coming to the event), I also decided that it'd be a cool idea to run a live camera feed from my computer during the course of the event at i34.

The page that it'll be displaying on is currently not online as of yet however, if you do want to see the feed (that presumably will be live as of next Thursday minimum), then go to live.axiom-gaming.co.uk.

There's no guarantee as to how long the feed will be online for or as to when it will go offline but anyway there is more information on the page and check out the counter as to when the event is going to kick off :)

Birmingham Salvo: First european world CGS champions!
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-07-29 17:28:47 UTC

I thought i'd post a small news article commenting on the victory of Birmingham Salvo yesterday at the world finals of the Championship Gaming Series.

For anyone that does know what the CGS is; I suggest you go check out The CGS.com.

Anyway, the Counter-Strike: Source match that took place (obviously the more interesting part of the event), bloody well had me on the edge of my seat.

The map was de_inferno and when I was watching live through SourceTV it seemed pretty even handed through the beginning part of the half with Salvo & OptX evening up the score each round. I think it was at round 7 of the first half that Salvo broke away from the evens and took a comfortable win. It was mostly the second half that had me cacking my pants.

Limited Skill recorded a demo of the match so please excuse the camera angle changes and scoreboard flickers.. I think there is also a bug with it at the beginning part of the demo.

Without further a due,

Thanks,
LoveDuckie.

Shirt designs, i34 roster change, TF2 Team
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-07-21 01:29:17 UTC
Roster changes
Due to unforseen consequences, we've had to change the roster around for the team so that things could continue on smoothly as possible.

Seeing as I haven't posted in a while I may iswell update everyone as to what has happened with the main core 5 roster.

To keep things brief Jester, Zefee & Mortal1ty had dropped out from the team because of internal affairs (pety ones at that iswell). As unfortunate as these losses were, L. Skill and I tried to keep our heads high about it and hunt new players to enter the squad. We came across a few people who had interest then left afterwards. After time we were able to confirm a line-up, being...

Axiom Gaming - Counter-Strike: Source 5 Man
LoveDuckie
Limited Skill
TheAlmightySponge
Slumph
Digit
J` (S)

As for the i34 team, unfortunately Jamie aka J` had to drop out due to financial issues plus him being needed elsewhere, however to replace him we have put in Slumph who will also be attending the iSeries gaming event this August.

i34 t-shirt designs
After the ups & downs as to whether we were really going to get t-shirts for the iSeries gaming event, we finally decided that the majority of us would.

So, without further adue; here are the designs:
Front design
Back design image (example)
Back overall design (example)

Team Fortress 2 Team - in the works...
Even more promising news is that Spadge (who is playing as as a sub for us at i34) is forming a Team Fortress 2 Axiom Gaming 6v6 squad with his ever so mighty knowledge of the game. After much consideration and coming to realise that we had the correct amount of resources to pull it off; Spadge will be leading the team for us!

More news to come, but as you see the new TF2 Team page is currently being constructed.

Keep you informed,
LD.

Axiom Gaming Vs. Reality Gaming: Team Echo
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-06-23 14:54:39 UTC
Was an unfortunate loss in all fairness, and I believed we could have won that if it wasn't for some of the slip ups that were made during the early stage of the match.

None-the-less we gave it a shot and still loss with our heads held high. If you're interested in watching the demo, then it's available in the Match Replays page under "Media".

Thanks again,
LD.

EnemyDown - Awaiting approval
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-06-17 00:49:53 UTC
Hands down, EnemyDown is probably one of the most respected and well played multi-game leagues about on the scene. With it covering most major gaming events around the world as well as powering it's own community; Axiom Gaming Counter-Strike: Source set to put it's claws into it's 5v5 ladders.

We've applied and are currently waiting approval from one of the on-site administrators, we were previously rejected to a minor technical error (cough, Sponge?) however we feel that we shall swiftly be accepted.

Both ClanBase & EnemyDown rankings will be displayed to the left. For more information on match results, visit the CSS team page.

Thanks,
LD.

Axiom Gaming Vs. Alphacore Gaming
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-06-07 20:06:55 UTC
Nice little win from the CB UK 5v5 ladder against the lads at Alphacore Gaming. If it's not too horrible of us to say, I think that was a fairly easy match for us and they knew it too.

Anyway, the demo link is below:

New servers and PsychoStats soon!
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-06-05 22:41:07 UTC
Hello again,
Big news - unfortunately due to our subscription running out with Jolt, we will be losing our dedicated server, however within it's 6 months of activity; it did not go to waste!! Skill and I had great fun setting up the servers, even if it did mean we had to restart the bloody war server every time we wanted to use it :/ (in all fairness, it was mostly skill's hardwork bwahaha).

None-the-less, due to this bad news we of course had a back up plan and that was to purchase two new servers that weren't dedicated. After much consideration we thought this was the appropriate way to approach things with our given financial situation and plus there was some advantages to it!

For example...

- We can now run PsychoStats on our new Public Server increasing the possibility of a community growing on the forums and on the game :) (Thanks Honor Guard!)
- We can now run a public vent server for the community (again, another great big up!)
- Our war server is now ran on Linux and is restarted daily and of course is administrated by the lovely guys at RTL-Servers.

Quick thanks from Skill & I for the quick set up, RTL & HG!

Your favourable pond lovin' animal,
LoveDuckie.

Axiom Gaming Vs. Masters of The Game
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-05-05 01:55:30 UTC
I can't believe my very eyes; we, Axiom Gaming (the underdogs), beat MTG in ClanBase. We're very grateful for MTG to play against us in this match and we're even happier that we won against them too. What was even better was that there was a A-Team player playing with them during the time of the match, so I think it's an even bigger accomplishment for us.

Granted, they were the B-Team.. but the B-Team of a very good clan. Thanks again for such a thrilling match.

End result:
Axiom: 16
MTG: 14

Next stop, K2K :]

Take care,

i34 "De-frag" the seating plan
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-05-03 16:04:28 UTC
It seems like the kind gents at multiplay have finally decided to get the seating plan sorted out. I suppose in relation to Axiom Gaming, it means that the roster going from our squad will finally be seated together without much complication!

Axiom vs United Warriors
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-05-01 22:24:27 UTC
Fortunately for us, we did get a win in the UK ladder for ClanBase. Our reflexes were sharp, our tactics were vivid... and we were just generally kick ass.

I suppose it was a fun match all in all, but after watching the demo, I can't say that their tactics were that challenging.

Keep the bomber on his own outside of B? ... Right. Amusing to watch, none the less.

Very unfortunate start
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-04-28 10:42:02 UTC
It hasn't been such a great start for us in the CB european 5v5 ladder after a close defeat against eXP, it also didn't help that I caused a grave mistake by accidentally restarting the game with my second computer.

If no-one knows the story, well.. here it is.

It's fairly simple, whilst we were 5 rounds into the second half, I was re-adjusting my arm and I accidentally lent on the ENTER key that was on my numpad with the keyboard underneath. As most of you know, I got 2 machines and I had HLSW open on the second box.

It's unfortunate, but i'll guarantee next time that this won't happen again. As I have said many a time, I am extremely sorry.

As for the opposing side, they made a pretty cocky post against us on their site

Layout bugs and i34 roster
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-04-23 10:25:27 UTC
I just wanted to notify everyone quickly that, over the next week there will be alot of layout bugs that'll appear on the website.

Take the calendar to the right for example, it looks like a right mess and I haven't had time to properly implement it.

On a lighter note, after being confronted by a member of the PurePwnage community, we've been able to acquire 3 more members to our i34 roster lineup.

Please welcome Bishop, Spadge & Sponge :) Consequently this means we'll have enough in the lineup for two subs and a full 5 man team!

All that is left is the completion of the website, 3 months of training & hunting for t-shirt sponsorship,
Luc.

i34 officially sold out!
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-04-22 13:53:01 UTC
If you haven't been checking out the multiplay website lately, then you'll be suprised to know that i34 is officially sold out. Although this means we're unable to compete in the 5v5 tournament due to our members being now unable to purchase a ticket; there is still light at the end of the tunnel.

Hopefully we'll be able to get a 5th and look for t-shirt sponsors for the event.

Keep you posted,
Luc.

Quick notice
Posted by LoveDuckie on 2008-04-10 18:27:21 UTC
Clan members: You may have noticed the "Forum Login" to the right of the layout, however it is currently not completed, meaninmg that I still need to put the coding into it so it does actually work.

Thanks for checking by though,
Luc.
